BMW's E Chassis Code System
Throughout the Bavarian Soundwerks site, you'll find many product fitments
designated with a 3 character code that starts with the letter E (i.e.
"E36"). Below you'll find a key to let you figure out what model each
code corresponds to.
Where did this code system come from?
With each new chassis made, BMW designates an E Code. The system is essentially
BMW's internal system for classifying vehicles. Please note that the chassis
codes DO NOT correspond to specific drivetrain or suspension configurations.
For example, a '95 M3, 318, and 325 are all E36 models.
