For the last 5 years, we've updated inventory information on our site the old fashioned way -- once per week, by hand. Because we have a wide variety of products, this process was error-prone. And the long delay between updates meant that sometimes something would go in or out of stock and the site wouldn't be updated. We were set up this way because we're fairly small and didn't have the resources to track things live.
But that's all changed. As of today, the inventory information you see on our website is automatically updated 3x per day, at 10am, 2pm, and 6pm Eastern -- the site connects directly to the warehouse management software of our New York distribution center. This means you can be assured that when you place your order on our site, and it says "IN STOCK," it's really in stock.
We've also added a new stock status called "LOW STOCK" to let you know there are 3 or fewer of an item left. We do this because our site is updated frequently, but isn't real-time, so we want you to know there's a very small chance you might not order in time to avoid a backorder.
Oh, and just one more thing -- if you've signed up for a waiting list on a backordered item, this means you'll be notified RIGHT AWAY when something comes back in stock instead of having to wait up to a week after we receive it to get notified.
Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Ordering!
