Test Results

Steve tested sound levels both inside and outside the car, with the in-car stereo set to varing levels of volume via the percentage dial. After installing the Revenant Pro amp, steve then re-tested at the same volume setting on the stereo. Steve observed a significantly louder experience after the Amp install at all volumes, most pronounced at the midrange of the stereo, which is the normal listening volume for most users.

The above percentage figures were measured using the decibel scale, which is a way to measure sound intensity. It uses a logarithmic formula, where small changes in decibel values represent larger changes in sound intensity. For example, a 10 dB increase from 60 dB to 70 dB represents a sound that is 10 times louder, like going from a normal conversation to the noise of a vacuum cleaner. The numbers represented in the review video miscalcuate how the scale works, hence our corrected figures above.

These findings point to not just volume increases, but also an increase in dynamic range. The result of widening the band of potential amplitudes a sound signal can be reproduced at, more power can be allocated to the whole spectrum, which results in improved clarity, resolution and presence in the audio.
