The Bavsound Revenant and Revenant Pro amplifiers are currently discontinued and unavailable. At this time, we do not offer a Bavsound amplifier for these applications.

If you purchased a Bavsound speaker upgrade within the last 4 years and one of your speakers has blown, it may be covered under warranty.

If one speaker has blown, we generally recommend replacing the complete speaker kit rather than replacing just the individual speaker.

The installation video may not always be for your exact vehicle. In many cases, the installation process is the same or very similar across BMW models and audio systems, so the available video can still be helpful.

We typically film vehicles with premium factory audio systems because they have more speaker locations and can demonstrate installation steps that apply to other audio systems as well.

At this time, Bavsound does not offer speaker or amplifier upgrades compatible with Bang & Olufsen (B&O) or Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) factory audio systems.

Our Ghost subwoofers may physically fit in the factory under-seat locations on some B&O and B&W systems, but the factory amplifier signal is not compatible with the Ghost subwoofers and can cause damage with use. For this reason, we do not recommend or support Ghost subwoofers for B&O or B&W systems.

Our products are designed and tuned for specific BMW vehicles and factory audio systems. We recommend selecting your exact vehicle and audio system through our Build Your Kit tool and only purchasing products listed as compatible.

If your vehicle or audio system isn't listed, we recommend not attempting to adapt another kit to your vehicle.

Unfortunately, we no longer offer upgrade kits for the BMW Z3 M Roadster. Our Z3 kits have been discontinued, and we do not currently have any compatible Bavsound solutions for this vehicle.

We also do not have any leftover Z3 parts, and the front speakers from our E36 kit cannot be used as a workaround.

We don't want to promise that your car will suddenly become a concert hall on wheels. We want to accurately describe what the upgrade is designed to improve.

During development, we analyze the factory system and tune each Stage One kit to address its specific limitations. Depending on the system, this can include improving midrange detail, reducing harshness, and creating a more balanced and natural soundstage.

So whether your BMW has the standard or premium factory audio system, the Stage One upgrade is designed to work with that specific system and improve the overall listening experience.

Stage One improves sound quality by using higher-quality materials, improved speaker engineering, and vehicle-specific tuning.

Each speaker is designed around the specific BMW and factory audio system it is intended for. We consider factors such as the speaker's magnet, voice coil, suspension, surround, and cone materials to improve how accurately it reproduces music.

The result is clearer, more balanced, and more natural sound, without requiring changes to the rest of your factory audio system.

Stage One can improve the way your BMW's audio sounds at normal listening levels. Because the upgraded speakers are more efficient and produce less distortion than the factory speakers, you may be able to listen at higher volumes or use slightly higher bass settings without the same level of distortion.

However, Stage One does not replace the factory subwoofers or increase the overall amount of bass your system produces. The improved speaker performance can make the bass sound cleaner and more controlled, but it won't provide a major increase in sub-bass.

Stage One uses Bavsound-exclusive, vehicle-specific speakers designed and tuned for the exact BMW model and factory audio system they are intended for.

Unlike many universal aftermarket speakers, Stage One is designed to fit directly into the factory locations and work with the BMW's existing audio system. The speakers are specifically matched to the factory amplifier's impedance and efficiency requirements, so you can upgrade the speakers without replacing the rest of the system.

Because Stage One speakers are engineered specifically for each BMW application, they aren't directly comparable to universal aftermarket speaker pairs from brands such as JBL or Infinity. Those products may require different installation, amplification, or vehicle-specific modifications depending on the application.

The key difference is that Stage One is designed as a complete BMW-specific upgrade, rather than a universal aftermarket speaker replacement.

No. Stage One is designed to work with your BMW’s factory amplifier and head unit. The speakers are specifically selected and tuned to work with the factory system, so no amplifier or head-unit replacement is required.

No, you don’t. Stage One is designed to work with your BMW’s factory amplifier, so an amplifier upgrade is not required to get a significant improvement in sound quality.

If you’re looking for more overall impact, weight, and perceived volume, a subwoofer upgrade can make a bigger difference than adding an amplifier for the interior speakers. A subwoofer system handles the lower frequencies that give music much of its impact, while also taking some of the bass burden off the interior speakers so they can play louder with less distortion.

If Stage One isn’t giving you the level of bass, impact, or overall output you’re looking for, we recommend adding our Ghost Subwoofer System.

Yes, Stage One can allow your system to play louder with less distortion, but it does not increase the power output of your factory amplifier.

The Stage One speakers are designed to handle higher volumes with less distortion than the factory speakers. This means you can turn up the volume further while maintaining clearer, more detailed sound, effectively increasing the system’s usable volume.

The factory amplifier still determines the system’s maximum power output, so Stage One does not increase the amplifier’s output itself.

For the volume in some BMWs, that is actually normal. The BMW volume settings are not a linear representation of the actual volume. 60% of the output power is in the last 30% of the volume spectrum. We alway suggest setting the volume by ear and not the display.

We understand that it can be difficult to make an audio upgrade purchase without hearing the speakers first. Because Bavsound is a direct-to-consumer brand, we don't have a large network of retail locations or showrooms where you can listen to our upgrades before purchasing.

That's why we offer a 100-day in-car trial. You can install the upgrade in your BMW and experience the difference with your own music, in your own car, using your existing factory audio system. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, you can return it within 100 days of delivery for a full refund, subject to our return policy.

Here's some suggested EQ settings if you have a Harman Kardon or Logic 7 system (Top HiFi):

Set your bass to flat.

Hop into the EQ and turn off all surround functions.

If you’re using an external source for your music, make sure all EQ settings on that source are flat. If you’re using an AUX input, make sure the AUX volume on your BMW radio is set to the middle. This optimizes the signal transfer from the source to the amplifier (and ultimately out to your speakers).

Reduce your Treble setting by 2-4 "notches" or around flat, and leave "Bass" at flat.

Adjust your EQ as follows:

(NOTE: these are not "absolute" recommendations, but how much you should adjust from your "normal" settings)

If you're looking to replace your head unit or navigation system, J&T Distributing offers head unit upgrades and replacements for select BMW models. Availability depends on your specific BMW and what you're looking to achieve.

If you need support for a Bluetooth or integration kit previously offered by Bavsound, those products are now outside their warranty period, and we no longer offer repairs, replacements, or service for them.

Our kits are designed and tuned specifically for the vehicle and factory audio system they are intended for. We only recommend using a kit with the exact vehicle and audio system selected through our website's vehicle selection options. If your vehicle is not listed as compatible, we strongly discourage trying to adapt another kit.

While some BMW models may use the same physical speakers, fitment, connectors, mounting dimensions, and speaker impedance can vary between vehicles and audio systems. This means a complete kit designed for one vehicle may not be compatible with another.

For example, switching between a Standard HiFi and Harman Kardon system can result in incompatible subwoofer impedance. HiFi systems may use 2-ohm woofers, while HK systems may use 8-ohm woofers. Some applications may also use 4-ohm woofers.

Do not rely on the product photos alone when determining compatibility. The photos may not accurately represent every component or variation in a kit, and details such as connectors, mounting depth, basket size, and impedance can differ.

For the correct fit and performance, always select your exact vehicle and factory audio system through our website before purchasing or installing a Bavsound kit.

If you're not hearing much of a difference after installing your Bavsound subwoofers, there are a few things to check first.

1. Confirm you have the correct subwoofers for your BMW.

Subwoofer impedance varies between BMW audio systems, so it's important to make sure you ordered the correct version for your specific vehicle and factory audio system. If you're unsure, send your VIN to sales@bavsound.com and we'll help confirm compatibility.

2. Give the subwoofers time to break in.

Our subwoofers typically require a 10–12 hour break-in period before reaching their best performance. Follow the recommended subwoofer break-in instructions and audio settings during this period.

3. Consider the music you're listening to.

The difference will be more noticeable with music that has strong, low-frequency bass. If you're testing the upgrade, try a track with a wide bass range so you can better hear what the subwoofers are capable of.

4. Keep the size and design of the subwoofer in mind.

The Ghost subwoofers are designed to fit under the seats, so they won't produce the same amount of air movement as a larger 10-inch or 12-inch subwoofer in a trunk enclosure. They're engineered to deliver tighter, punchier, and more powerful bass within the limitations of the factory under-seat location.

What should I listen for?

Ghost is designed to improve the overall bass response in your BMW, with tighter, deeper, and more impactful bass and a fuller sound in the cabin. The goal is not simply to make the bass louder, but to improve its quality and performance while working with your factory audio system.

If your BMW has the Base Audio system, select “Base Audio” when choosing your vehicle on our website. Bavsound does not offer a kit that converts the Base Audio system into the Harman Kardon system.

The Base Audio amplifier is integrated into the head unit, and the vehicle is not wired for a separate amplifier. Adding an aftermarket amplifier would require extensive rewiring to the trunk area and reprogramming the head unit. While this is possible, we do not currently offer a solution for this type of installation.

What we do offer for Base Audio systems is our Stage One Speaker Upgrade and Ghost Under-Seat Subwoofer System. Both are designed to work with your factory head unit and make the most of the power available from the factory system.

Because the Base Audio system has less power available than some of BMW's premium audio systems, you won't get the same overall output as you would with a more powerful amplifier. To maximize the available power, our speakers are designed to be highly efficient, allowing more of the factory amplifier's power to be converted into sound.

For Base Audio applications, our 4-inch Stage One speakers use a coaxial, or “point source,” design, with the tweeter positioned in the center of the woofer. This design is also used in many high-end speakers. It simplifies installation while allowing the midrange and treble to originate from the same location, which can help create more accurate acoustic imaging.

The coaxial design is also more efficient with limited amplifier power than the component-style systems used in some HiFi and Harman Kardon applications, helping you get more output from the factory amplifier.

Many people assume that a speaker's watt rating tells you how loud it will play. It doesn't. RMS and peak power ratings indicate how much power a speaker can handle, while loudness depends primarily on the speaker's efficiency and the power available from the amplifier.

Our speakers are designed with specifications that allow them to work with the factory BMW amplifiers they are intended for. However, speaker specifications alone don't tell the whole story. In a vehicle, speakers operate dynamically based on the signal and power they receive.

The biggest differences between our speakers and the factory components come from two areas:

1. Improved speaker materials

We use materials such as silk composite tweeter domes and woven fiberglass speaker cones. These materials help provide smoother, more detailed, and more natural music reproduction.

Bavsound takes a different approach from a typical aftermarket speaker company. Because Stage One speakers are designed as direct replacements for specific BMW factory audio systems, standard speaker specifications aren't always very meaningful to the end user. They are much more important during the engineering and tuning process.

For example, a speaker's wattage rating tells you how much power it can handle, but it does not tell you how loud it will play or how good it will sound. Generic aftermarket speakers may list ratings such as 50W RMS or 120W peak, but those numbers are primarily useful when matching speakers to an aftermarket amplifier.

Stage One is designed differently. We engineer each speaker to work with the specific factory amplifier, impedance, efficiency, and crossover characteristics of the BMW system it's designed for.

For example, a Harman Kardon E46 factory system may provide approximately:

• 32 watts @ 2.6 ohms to the midbass
  
• 24 watts @ 8 ohms to the midrange
  
• 12 watts @ 6 ohms to the tweeter
  

These values vary between BMW models and between Standard and Premium audio systems. They also don't tell the whole story, because speaker efficiency and sound reproduction are equally important.

We use these factory-system specifications during the engineering process to design and tune the best-performing speaker for your exact BMW and audio system. Rather than presenting a set of generic numbers that can be misleading without the surrounding context, we focus on making sure the complete system works together properly.

The same applies to frequency response. Because Stage One works with the factory amplifier and its crossover settings, the frequency range of an individual speaker doesn't tell the whole story. Across the complete Stage One system, you can typically expect to hear as much of the audible spectrum as the factory system's configuration allows, approximately 50Hz–20,000Hz.

No. The Stage One Audio Upgrade is designed to be completely hidden within the vehicle and reversible after installation. Once installed, your BMW will maintain its factory appearance, so there should be no visible indication from inside the car that the speakers have been upgraded.

Some exceptions may apply depending on the vehicle. Please check the Installation section of our website and enter your vehicle information to view the specific installation guide and any modifications that may be required for your application.

One of the most common questions we receive from customers with the premium or Harman Kardon audio system in their vehicles is “why would I upgrade my audio system if I already have the “best” option available?”

Harman Kardon is one of BMW's premium factory audio systems, but having the premium system doesn't necessarily mean there isn't room for improvement. Stage One is designed specifically to address some of the limitations we hear from BMW owners with Harman Kardon systems, while continuing to use the factory amplifier and processing.

The factory HK amplifier and DSP provide a strong foundation. The areas where Stage One can make the biggest difference are the speakers themselves, including:

• Tweeter harshness: The factory tweeters can become fatiguing at higher listening volumes.
  
• Midrange clarity: The midrange can sound less present relative to the tweeters, making vocals and other details feel more distant.
  
• Bass response: The factory subwoofers can produce a less controlled and balanced low end, particularly through the transition into the lower midrange.
  

Stage One replaces the factory speakers with Bavsound-engineered, vehicle-specific speakers designed to work with the BMW's existing HK amplifier and processing. The result is designed to provide a clearer, more open, and more balanced soundstage, with smoother highs, more defined midrange, and a more controlled overall response.

We achieve this through purpose-built components and speaker engineering, including woven fiberglass composite cones, Santoprene rubber surrounds, bottomless voice-coil designs, and silk-dome tweeters, depending on the application.

The goal isn't to replace everything in your HK system. Stage One works with the factory amplifier and DSP, allowing you to improve the speakers while keeping the rest of the factory system intact.

The difference will ultimately depend on your BMW, factory audio configuration, listening preferences, and expectations.

A BMW HiFi system cannot be converted into a Harman Kardon system simply by adding the Harman Kardon speakers. The amplifier and overall system configuration are different, so adding additional speakers alone will not replicate the Harman Kardon setup.

Some HiFi-equipped vehicles may have speaker locations that look similar to those used in the premium audio system, such as spaces for additional tweeters. However, the factory amplifier in the HiFi system is not configured to power those additional speakers.

For this reason, our Stage One kits are designed to replace the speakers included in your BMW's original audio configuration, rather than adding speakers from another system.

We also do not sell individual speakers or partial kits. Our upgrades are sold as complete kits because the speakers are designed to work together as a system for the best overall performance.

Sorry, Bavsound does not repair or sell any OEM BMW products.

For R-generation MINIs (R55, R56, R57, R58, and R59) with the Base Audio system, our current kit replaces the two upper front-door speakers. We do not currently offer replacements for the larger lower door speakers.

For F-generation MINIs, we offer additional speaker upgrade options depending on the vehicle and factory audio system.

We currently offer the MINI speaker upgrades that are already available in our product lineup rather than complete speaker replacements for every speaker location in Base Audio MINI systems.

Some MINI models equipped with Harman Kardon audio systems have an amplifier and additional speaker locations that are compatible with our upgrades, allowing for a more complete system upgrade. Our installation videos were filmed using an HK-equipped MINI, but the same instructional video can be used for the Base Audio front-door speaker installation.

Installing Bavsound speakers will not automatically void your BMW's warranty. In our experience, we have not had issues with customers' vehicle warranties as a result of installing our products.

That said, we recommend keeping your factory speakers and amplifier in case you ever need to return the vehicle to its original configuration for service.

The one area where a warranty claim could potentially be questioned is an amplifier failure, although our speakers are designed to OEM specifications and to work with the factory audio system. In our 21 years of business and with thousands of customers, we have not seen this become an issue.

If you're concerned about a specific warranty claim, we recommend discussing it directly with your BMW dealer.

Unfortunately, we do not currently offer speaker upgrade solutions for BMWs equipped with the M-Audio system.

The M-Audio system is not listed as a compatible option on our website. Please do not select a HiFi or DSP kit for an M-Audio-equipped vehicle, as the systems are configured differently and the kits are not compatible.

Our E39 kits are not compatible with the M-Audio system for several reasons:

• The M-Audio system uses more speakers than our kits are designed to replace.
  
• Some M-Audio applications use coaxial speakers that are not included in our kits.
  
• The installation is more complex and does not align with our plug-and-play installation approach.
  

For these reasons, we do not currently offer an M-Audio upgrade solution.

If you're experiencing issues with your Standard HiFi amplifier, work through the following troubleshooting steps:

1. No sound from the front speakers, no sound at all, or very weak sound

• Check whether the ASD Bypass Harness has been installed inline. If so, this is incorrect. Please refer to the installation video for the correct setup: ASD Bypass Harness Installation Video
  

2. No PWR light on the amplifier

• Check that the inline fuse has been installed.
  
• If it has been installed, check that the fuse is good.
  
• If there is still no power light, double-check the connections at the battery.
  

3. PWR light is on, but there is no sound

• Check that the tune card is fully seated. If it is inserted at an angle or the hole on top of the card is not visible, remove and reinsert it to ensure a proper connection.
  
• Double-check that the harness connections to the amplifier and the black BMW plug are fully seated and secure.
  
• Check your BMW owner's manual for any fuses related to the entertainment system, radio, or media system.
  

4. Sound distorts above 70% volume

• This is normal. The factory BMW head unit begins producing significant distortion in its output signal at around 70% indicated volume. Our system is tuned around this limitation, so this is effectively the maximum recommended volume range.
  
• Continuing to play above 70% while hearing distortion can damage the speakers and should be avoided.

If you're experiencing issues with your Premium Top HiFi / Harman Kardon system with a MOST adapter, work through the following troubleshooting steps:

1. No PWR light on the amplifier

First, check the lights on the MOST adapter:

If there are no lights on the MOST adapter:
Check that the inline fuse has been installed.
If it has been installed, check that the fuse is good, including the green fuses.

If there is still no power light, double-check the connections at the battery.

If there are lights on the MOST adapter:

A solid MOST LED indicates that you can continue with the troubleshooting steps below.

If the MOST LED is blinking, please contact Bavsound support.

The Status 1, Status 2, and Error LEDs may be solid or blinking. The MOST LED is the one to focus on for this check.

2. PWR light is on, but there is no sound

• Check that the tune card is fully seated. If it is inserted at an angle or the hole on top of the card is not visible, remove and reinsert it to ensure a proper connection.
  
• Double-check that the harness connections to the amplifier and the black BMW plug are fully seated and secure.
  

3. Fading to the rear results in no sound, or the Logic 7 Surround function does not change anything

This is normal when integrating with a fiber-optic MOST-based premium audio system. Our amplifier supports fade functionality when setting the tunes, but the BMW head unit's fade controls do not work with an aftermarket amplifier in this setup.

For a tune that is more similar to having the surround function enabled:

• Tune 2: Bavsound Speakers and Subwoofers
  
• Tune 4: Stock Speakers and Subwoofers
  

4. The system is too quiet, even at higher or full volume

Our amplifier has significantly less distortion than the factory amplifier, so the perceived volume may be lower than what you're used to. The factory amplifier can produce significant distortion above approximately 60% indicated volume.

If the system still doesn't seem loud enough, try the following:

1. Set the radio volume to 0.
   
2. Unplug the 4-pin power harness from the MOST adapter.
   
3. Plug the harness back in.
   
4. Turn the volume from 0 → 100 → 0.
   
5. Check whether more volume is now available.

Bavsound products come with a 4-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty applies to international orders as well.

We also offer a 100-day in-car trial. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, you can return it within 100 days of delivery for a full refund, subject to our return policy.

International orders:

The 4-year warranty applies to international purchases. If you need to return a product, you are responsible for arranging and paying the return shipping and any applicable postage or fees.

If a product is found to have a warranty-related defect, Bavsound will provide a replacement at no charge. However, the customer is responsible for arranging and paying any applicable shipping or fees associated with sending the replacement internationally.

Our goal is to make sure you're happy with your upgrade and supported throughout your ownership.

Yes. Stage One is designed to be a straightforward installation using your BMW's existing factory speaker locations and connections.

For most applications, installation involves removing the factory speakers, installing the Stage One speakers in their place, and connecting them using the factory connections. No complex wiring or permanent modifications are required.

Some older E36 applications may require additional steps, such as using a small amount of adhesive, depending on the specific installation.

Bavsound does not currently offer installation services or operate a public installation shop. However, you can find an authorized installer through our Dealer Locator.

You can also look for a reputable local car audio, BMW, or automotive repair shop through services such as Yelp or BimmerShops. We recommend choosing a shop that:

• Has experience working on BMWs
  
• Is familiar with plug-and-play audio upgrades
  
• Has strong customer reviews
  
• Is comfortable installing aftermarket BMW-specific audio components
  

Installation costs vary depending on the shop and your vehicle. Bavsound does not cover or reimburse installation costs, as our kits are designed for DIY installation.

The installation video may not always be for your exact vehicle. In many cases, the installation process is the same or very similar across BMW models and audio systems, so the available video can still be helpful.

We typically film vehicles with premium audio systems because they have more speaker locations and allow us to demonstrate installation steps that also apply to other audio systems.

In most newer BMW vehicles, the slightly larger 4-inch speaker with the offset mounting is installed in the front and rear doors. These speakers have part numbers ending in SOF (Speaker Offset).

The smaller 4-inch speaker with the flush-mount design typically fits in the center dash and rear deck locations.

There are some exceptions depending on the vehicle, so the easiest way to confirm fitment is to hold each Bavsound speaker up to the factory speaker and compare the mounting points and size.

For kits with coaxial speakers:

• The speaker with the longer wire and integrated capacitor (BSD.SP.CX.4.SOF.C-V3) goes in the front doors.
  
• The speaker with the shorter wire (BSD.SP.CX.4.SOF.-V3) goes in the rear locations.
  

If you're unsure which speaker belongs in a particular location, please contact support@bavsound.com before installing it.

Your new Ghost Subwoofers require a 10–12 hour break-in period before they reach their full performance. You may notice an immediate improvement after installation, but the subwoofers will continue to open up and perform at their best as they are used.

Handling Your Ghost Subwoofers

When unpacking and handling your subwoofers:

• Do not hold the subwoofer by the external plug connector.
  
• Always handle the woofer by the basket itself and avoid handling it by the extension where the female plug is located.
  

Installation

Installation instructions and videos are available on our website. There may be more than one video for your vehicle, so use the arrows to switch between available guides.

After installation, test each subwoofer before reinstalling the grilles and seats. You don't need to evaluate the sound at this stage. Simply confirm that each woofer is producing sound and that there are no unusual noises or vibrations.

Audio Settings

Ghost Subwoofers are engineered to prioritize sound quality and usable performance, rather than simply maximizing bass output. Depending on your BMW and factory audio system, they may initially sound slightly quieter than the factory subwoofers without any EQ adjustments.

The recommended settings below can help you get the most out of your Ghost Subwoofers.

For HiFi or Base Audio systems:

• Set Bass to flat.
  
• If you're using an external music source, set its EQ settings to flat.
  
• If you're using an AUX input, set the AUX volume on your BMW radio to the middle position.
  

For Harman Kardon or Logic 7 (Top HiFi) systems:

• Set Bass to flat.
  
• Turn off all surround functions.
  
• If you're using an external music source, set its EQ settings to flat.
  
• If you're using an AUX input, set the AUX volume on your BMW radio to the middle position.
  
• Reduce Treble by 2–4 notches, or set it around flat.
  
• Leave Bass at flat.
  

Then adjust the EQ from your normal settings as follows:

• 80Hz / 100Hz: +1 click
  
• 200Hz: -2 clicks
  
• 500Hz: No adjustment
  
• 1KHz: -1 click
  
• 2KHz: -4 clicks
  
• 5KHz: -4 clicks
  
• 10KHz: -1 to -3 clicks
  

Once the initial settings are established and the subwoofers have completed their break-in period, no further adjustments should be necessary.

Troubleshooting

There is significantly more bass than expected, even with the recommended settings.

This may indicate that the subwoofers have the wrong impedance for your BMW. This can happen if:

• The incorrect impedance subwoofers were shipped.
  
• The wrong factory audio system was selected when ordering.
  

Please contact Bavsound Support so we can confirm your vehicle and subwoofer compatibility.

There is very little bass, or less bass than the factory subwoofers.

This may also indicate an impedance or compatibility issue. Possible causes include:

• The incorrect impedance subwoofers were shipped.
  
• The wrong factory audio system was selected when ordering.
  

Please contact Bavsound Support so we can verify the correct subwoofers for your BMW.

One or both subwoofers are making an unusual mechanical noise.

Check whether any debris or other material has come into contact with the woofer cone and is causing the noise.

If there is no visible obstruction and the noise continues, please contact Bavsound Support, as the woofer may need to be inspected or replaced.

Yes. The Ghost V2 Subwoofer differs slightly in appearance from the V1 version, but the performance and specifications are the same.

The main differences are:

• Metal grille: The V2 includes a metal grille to help prevent debris from entering the speaker cone.
  
• Pre-attached gasket: The gasket on the back of the V2 subwoofer is already installed.
  

If you're installing a V2 Ghost Subwoofer, you can disregard the part of the installation video that shows you applying or installing the rear gasket material. Your subwoofer already has the gasket attached.

If your Bavsound subwoofer has stopped working, please contact support@bavsound.com with your vehicle's VIN. We'll first confirm that you have the correct subwoofer impedance and configuration for your BMW's factory audio system.

Before requesting a replacement, please work through the following checks:

1. Check the connection and amplifier channel

• Make sure the subwoofer is fully connected and receiving a signal.
  
• If you're not getting any sound, test the factory subwoofer in the same location if possible. This can help determine whether the issue is with the subwoofer itself or the amplifier channel.
  

2. Check for rattling

• Inspect the subwoofer housing and the cone beneath the metal grille for any loose debris that could be causing a rattling sound.
  

3. Check for vibrations or a "farting" sound

• Check around the subwoofer housing for any areas where air may be escaping or where the housing may be vibrating against another surface.
  
• Reinstall the subwoofer to make sure the enclosure is properly secured.
  
• If necessary, add sound-deadening material around areas where the housing may be vibrating against the vehicle.
  

If these steps don't resolve the issue, please complete our Warranty Form, including your VIN.

Please also send a 30-second video of the issue so our team can listen to the problem and help determine the cause before sending a replacement. When documenting the issue, please also include a photo or video showing your bass and treble EQ settings.

Recommended Audio Settings

For the best performance, start with your bass, treble, fader, and balance set to the center or flat position. Listen for 5–10 minutes before making further adjustments.

If you want more bass or treble, we recommend increasing either setting by no more than 3–4 clicks. Increasing it further can introduce distortion and reduce performance.

If you still want more of one frequency range, try lowering the opposite setting instead. For example, if you want relatively more bass, lower the treble and then increase the overall volume. This can provide a stronger perceived bass response without adding as much distortion.

Increasing both bass and treble together generally isn't necessary. If you want the system louder, increasing the overall volume is the better approach.

For kits with coaxial speakers:

• The speaker with the longer wire and integrated capacitor (BSD.SP.CX.4.SOF.C-V3) goes in the front doors.
  
• The speaker with the shorter wire (BSD.SP.CX.4.SOF.-V3) goes in the rear locations.

If you're experiencing an issue with your Bavsound product, please provide your vehicle's 17-digit VIN so we can confirm that you have the correct product for your BMW.

Then complete our Warranty Claim Form and include:

• The exact speaker type and location that needs to be replaced.
  
• If you're experiencing an unusual sound, such as distortion, buzzing, or popping, include a 30-second video demonstrating the issue.
  

Our team will review the information and help determine the appropriate next steps.

Some BMW models have factory subwoofers that are glued into place. If your vehicle has this setup, use the appropriate installation guide below:

These videos cover the installation process for models with glued-in factory subwoofers.

The metal grille on the Ghost Subwoofer is designed to help keep debris away from the speaker cone. It is not required for the subwoofer's performance.

The Ghost Subwoofer with the grille should normally fit into the factory housing and allow the BMW cover to be reinstalled. First, make sure the subwoofer is properly seated and fully secured.

If the grille is preventing the BMW cover from fitting correctly, you can remove the metal grille. It lifts off easily and will not affect the performance of the subwoofer. The factory BMW cover provides sufficient protection for the speaker cone.

This can be a particularly tight fit on some BMW X5 models. If you're installing Ghost Subwoofers in an X5, make sure the woofer is properly seated. If necessary, remove the metal grille before securing the subwoofer and reinstalling the factory cover.

The original Revenant amplifier has two tune settings:

• Green light: For factory/stock speaker systems
  
• Amber light: For Bavsound upgraded speakers
  

If you have the Revenant amplifier installed with the factory speakers, we recommend using the green-light setting until you install the Stage One Speaker Upgrade.

Once you install Stage One, you can switch to the amber-light setting:

1. Press and hold the control button for approximately 2 seconds until the light begins to blink.
   
2. Release the button.
   
3. After a moment, the light will change to amber.
   

If you have the Revenant amplifier and Ghost Subwoofers installed but are still using the factory speakers, you can listen to both tune settings and choose the one you prefer.

Important: Do not hold the control button for longer than 8–10 seconds, as this can reset the amplifier and prevent it from functioning properly.

Recommended EQ Settings

Keep your BMW's Bass and Treble settings within approximately 1–3 notches of the center position. Setting them too far from the middle can introduce distortion because the factory head unit's built-in EQ is less robust than the DSP processing in the amplifier.

If you want more bass, you can also reduce the Treble rather than simply increasing the Bass. Similarly, if you want more high-end, you can reduce the Bass rather than pushing the Treble significantly higher.

If you have a Harman Kardon or Logic 7 (Top HiFi) system, start with the following settings:

• Bass: Flat
  
• Treble: Flat or reduce by 2–4 notches
  
• Surround: Off
  
• Balance: Flat
  
• Fader: Flat
  
• If you're using an external music source, set its EQ settings to flat.
  
• If you're using an AUX input, set the AUX volume on your BMW radio to the middle position.
  

Then adjust the EQ from your normal settings as follows:

• 80Hz / 100Hz: +1 click
  
• 200Hz: -2 clicks
  
• 500Hz: No adjustment

These are not absolute settings. They are intended as adjustments from your normal settings, and the best settings may vary depending on your system and listening preferences.

Once your speakers have completed their break-in period, keeping the settings close to flat is recommended for the most natural music reproduction.

To remove the bolt covers:

1. Pull the sides of the cover outward, away from the seat rail.
   
2. Once the sides are released, slide the cover forward off the rail.

For rear doors with a horizontal window shade, start by removing the horizontal window shade. This video shows the process at approximately 2:50: Window Shade Removal Video

Once the shade is removed:

1. Remove the Torx screw visible along the top edge of the door panel.
   
2. Remove the screw behind the door handle, similar to the front door.
   
3. Use a blue panel removal tool to release the clips along the front, bottom, and rear edges of the door panel.
   
4. Once the sides and bottom are released, lift the door panel up.
   
5. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
   

From there, the rear speaker installation process is similar to the front speaker installation.

Orders can typically be canceled within approximately 20 minutes of being placed during business hours, before they are processed by our fulfillment center. We’ll do our best to accommodate cancellation requests made after this window, but if your order has already entered the fulfillment process, it cannot be canceled.

There are several reasons your order may not have shipped yet. If it has been more than 3 business days since you placed your order, please contact support@bavsound.com. Otherwise, your order may still be processing.

Here are some common reasons for a shipping delay:

• Weekend or after-hours order: Orders are processed Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST. Orders received before 11:00 AM EST are typically shipped the same business day.
  
• Carrier scanning delay: Your order may have already left the fulfillment center, but the carrier may not have scanned it yet. Tracking information can sometimes take 24 hours or longer to update.
  
• Backordered item: If part of your order is on backorder, we may hold the entire order until all items are available. This helps ensure you receive a complete kit for installation.

Bavsound does not currently offer a direct exchange process. To exchange your speakers for a different kit, you’ll need to:

1. Start a return for your current kit through the Bavsound Returns Portal.
   
2. Place a new order for the correct kit.
   

If you need the new kit right away, you can place the new order before receiving your refund. Otherwise, you can wait until your returned product is received and your refund is processed before placing the new order.

Once we receive your return, your refund will be issued according to our return policy.

We accept returns started within the 100-day in-car trial period.

To receive a full refund, please return all products:

Returned products are inspected and tested upon receipt. If a product is returned damaged or in a condition that prevents it from being resold, charges may apply for the damaged item.

Returns must be started within the 100-day in-car trial period.

Once your returned package is delivered, returns are processed on the Friday of that week. After the refund is processed, it can take 2–7 business days for the refund to appear on your statement, depending on your bank or payment provider.

Refunds are issued to the original payment method.

If you paid through Affirm, the refund is applied to your remaining Affirm balance, and Affirm will refund any amount you have already paid toward the loan directly.

If the rear tweeter in your E46 HiFi Convertible is not working, the issue may be with the pin configuration on the BMW harness.

On some E46 models, the BMW harness is pinned differently from the vehicle used during our R&D:

• Bavsound harness: Pins 1 and 3 are populated.
  
• BMW harness: Pins 1 and 2 are populated.
  
• Pin 2 is the negative on both harnesses.
  

If your vehicle has this pin configuration, moving Pin 2 on the Bavsound harness from the Pin 2 position to the Pin 3 position should resolve the issue.

You should be able to quickly identify whether this is the issue by visually checking the connector. Follow the video guide for instructions on moving the pin.

Unfortunately, we no longer offer speaker upgrade kits for the BMW Z3 or Z3 M Roadster. 

Unfortunately, we currently do not offer amplifier upgrades compatible with E36, E38, E39, or E46 BMWs

Bavsound no longer offers subwoofer upgrades for the E36, E39, or E46. Our previous trunk subwoofer solutions have been discontinued, and we currently focus on plug-and-play audio upgrades for supported BMW applications.

Unfortunately, Bavsound does not currently offer rear speaker upgrades for the BMW E36 Convertible.

We discontinued the full E36 Convertible upgrade kit in 2020 because we could no longer provide the rear speaker upgrade. Due to continued demand, we later re-released a front-speaker-only kit for E36 Convertibles.

We do not currently have rear upgrade speakers available, and the production requirements for these speakers do not justify bringing them back.

We are also not aware of any plug-and-play aftermarket options that match the required impedance for these specific rear speaker locations.

Bavsound kits are designed and tuned specifically for the vehicle and factory audio system they are listed for. We recommend selecting your exact BMW through our vehicle selection tool and using only the kit listed for that application. We do not recommend trying to adapt another Bavsound kit to an E36 Convertible.

The 1 Series, 2 Series, X1, and X2 with Standard HiFi systems use a different wiring configuration from other BMW audio systems, making them incompatible with our Revenant amplifier.

For these vehicles, we offer Stage One speaker upgrades and the Ghost under-seat subwoofer replacement system, both of which are designed to work with the factory source unit.

While the factory system won't provide as much output as a more powerful amplifier, our speakers are designed to be highly efficient, allowing them to make the most of the available power.

Our Stage One speakers for these applications use a 4-inch coaxial (point-source) design, with the tweeter integrated into the center of the woofer. This provides several benefits:

• Simpler installation with two speakers in one unit
  
• More accurate acoustic imaging, since the midbass and treble originate from the same location
  
• Higher efficiency, allowing the speakers to produce more output from the factory amplifier than a traditional component setup
  

This design provides a straightforward way to improve the sound while working within the limitations of the factory audio system.

The E39 Stage One kit replaces most of the factory speakers, including:

• 4 tweeters
  
• 4 × 5.25-inch midbass speakers
  

It does not replace the two 2-inch front-door midrange speakers.

Important: This kit is not compatible with E39s equipped with the M-Audio system, which uses coaxial speakers.

Stage One is designed to work with the factory amplifier and provides a plug-and-play installation with no vehicle modifications required. The speakers use woven fiberglass cones, butyl rubber surrounds, and silk composite tweeters for improved clarity, range, balance, and higher-volume performance.

We do not currently offer a replacement for the factory 2-inch midrange speakers. For those speakers, we recommend using OEM BMW replacements.

Bavsound offers two speaker upgrade options for the E38 7 Series:

• Stage One: Replaces the factory tweeters and 5.25-inch midbass speakers.
• Rear Deck Subwoofer Replacement Kit: Replaces the four rear-deck woofers.

You can purchase either kit separately or upgrade both at the same time.

Both upgrades are designed to work with the factory audio system and provide a plug-and-play installation without vehicle modifications. The speakers use woven fiberglass cones, butyl rubber surrounds, and silk composite tweeters for improved clarity, range, balance, and high-volume performance.

We do not currently offer a replacement for the factory midrange speaker. For that application, we recommend using an OEM BMW replacement.

For E46 Touring/Wagon models with Harman Kardon audio, the rear speakers use a different 6×9-inch configuration, which Bavsound does not currently offer a replacement for.

For E46 Touring/Wagon models with Standard HiFi, the rear speakers use the same 6.25-inch speaker design as the front, so the E46 HiFi kit can be used for those applications.

We currently do not have a dedicated installation guide for the rear speakers in the E46 Touring/Wagon. The 6.25-inch speakers physically fit, but installation may require additional work because this application is not covered by our standard installation guide.

For R-generation MINIs with the Base Audio system, Bavsound currently offers a two-speaker kit that replaces the upper front-door speakers. We do not offer replacements for the larger lower door speakers.

For F-generation MINIs, additional speaker upgrade options are available.

We currently offer the MINI speaker upgrades already in our product lineup rather than complete speaker replacements for every speaker location in Base Audio MINI systems.

Some MINI models with Harman Kardon audio have an amplifier and additional speaker locations that are compatible with our upgrades, allowing for a more complete system upgrade. Our installation videos were filmed using an HK-equipped MINI, but the same instructional video can be used for the Base Audio front-door speaker installation.

For the E63/E64 6 Series, Bavsound currently offers Stage One speaker upgrades for vehicles with Standard HiFi or Premium Audio systems.

• E64 Standard HiFi: 8-speaker Stage One upgrade
  
• E64 Premium Audio: 9-speaker Stage One upgrade
  

We do not currently offer subwoofer upgrades for the E64. The factory behind-the-seat subwoofer mounting is not compatible with our Ghost subwoofers, and the installation would require modifications beyond our plug-and-play approach.

We also do not offer an amplifier upgrade for these vehicles because the factory wiring is not compatible with the Revenant amplifier.

Unfortunately, Bavsound no longer offers speaker upgrade kits for the E53 X5.

For the E85/E86 Z4, Bavsound currently offers a 4-speaker Stage One upgrade for the front midrange and tweeter locations.

We do not currently offer upgrades for the other speakers in the vehicle. The Z4 uses unique speaker configurations, and the factory subwoofers have a shape that is not compatible with our Ghost subwoofers.

For the BMW i3 with Base Audio, Bavsound currently offers a two-speaker Stage One upgrade.

The i3 does not have a separate amplifier for the factory audio system, so we do not offer a compatible amplifier upgrade. The factory head unit powers the speakers directly, which also limits the overall output.

We also do not offer a Ghost subwoofer upgrade for the i3. Its rear subwoofer uses a unique configuration that is not compatible with our Ghost subwoofers.

The Stage One speakers are designed to work efficiently with the factory head unit, allowing you to increase the volume with less distortion and achieve clearer, louder sound.
